Mucho randomness
G'day all!
This will be a rather random blogpost. I've been catching up on a few things cos I've not really been able to read blogs for days.
Good news!
Norma had her birthday on Monday. The Yarnharlot found out. 216 comments at last checking... not bad, eh?
ErLeCa was accepted into her course and is now going back to "school."
Random news
yarngirl managed to annoy the ballwinder gods a LOT. Now that is plain odd!
Bad news :-(
Kerstin's brother in law was killed in a car crash caused by a suicidal idiot female (if you want to kill yourself in a crash, please just drive into a wall or a pole or off a cliff or something, not into another car).
Other news
One of my friends and I did a bit of dilly daydreaming today. If we had our dream shop, what would it be?
It all started off with me noticing that most of the spinning stuff vendors at the Bendi show are not exactly spring chicks. That made me think that I would like to run a spinning and yarn shop.
After input from a few more people, this is what we have so far:
A cafe offering:
What would you like to add to the mix?
Can you tell that I haven't visited my knee replaced sister tonight? Someone who will remain nameless decided to unlock the jammed front door today and then went out without closing it.... Someone else, aka ME, can't get it shut again so I haint goin noplace.
Now for what you have been waiting for. Oh yes, indeedy do there is more stash enhancement. Lots more. So much more that I will be blogging it all week and you will be begging for mercy and release from the amazing bounds of my obsession.
Virginia Farm Woolworks flogged a nice mix of pink stuff (110g), technically for a felted scarf, but I am going to spin it cos I can:
And had 22 micron merino tops for $3 per 100g (I think) - this is $15 worth of it:
Then this thing acts as a great hat, very warm, if a little large:
(It's a silk cap, again something that isn't really for spinning)
I bought this from the guild's stand - 250g of blended merino probably by First Edition:
I couldn't resist the promise of dark stuff enhanced by violet and mauve and blue. I won't be able to split this one much so it will be a dark, heathered yarn.
How about some Magic Merino from Glenora weaving supplies? This will be lush cos I will be able to make it stripe madly :-)
This one in strawberry (200g) (I think)
and in blueberry (200g)
That is your lot for tonight! I am exhausted! Maybe I'll do some knitting content sometime soon 8-)
anon!

- native plants (DH and me)
- children's books (new and secondhand)
- penguin classics
- a wall of philosophy books
- spinning supplies
- yarn
- knitting, spinning, etc, classes
- art classes
- artwork
- personal training - small gymnasium
What would you like to add to the mix?

Your picks are LOVERLY!!
ReplyDeleteSo sad about Kerstin's BIL. It must be so much worse because it was an idiot suicide girl. Sad for her too, though.
My thoughts are with you.
Oh my, I'm drooling over all that fiber! I can't wait until the next fiber festival that I'll actually get to go to! Hey, thanks for mentioning my good news! I'm so excited!!!
ReplyDeleteAll your fibre purchases are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time spinning it.
Your shop sounds just perfect. Open it in this part of the world, and I promise I'll be there at least once a week, and more likely 3 or 4 times. In fact, your biggest problem may be getting rid of me!
ReplyDeleteJill.
Who says silk caps aren't for spinning? When I did my beginners' spinning course at the Guild I did a bit of spinning from a silk cap and no=one said anything about it being for felting instead! I found it easier to spin than the other type of silk - can't remember what it was called but it came more like a roving. Drooling over your stuff - haven't done any spinning for ages but you might just have inspired me!!!
ReplyDeleteMan look at all those fibers!! What divine colours!! Muchly jealous that I cant spin!
