3rd blogiversary winner!

G'day all!

I got my extra-special random number generator to spew out a lucky number for the comments, and it said 20968!

Hmm, methinks I needed a number between 1 and 42, or the number of comments eligible for entry into the contest.... Heck, if I get 20968 real readers (not just google, bloglines and other search engines finding my blog) in a year, I reckon I am going really well!

I've had lots of fun reading your comments, and goshdarnit a couple of you decided you should blog in part because of me! I am visiting all of your blogs slowly, slowly because...

I almost have an FO! A whole big mansize sweater, started either Friday or Saturday week ago! I've been knitting like a maniac for days and days and days, and boy am I over this sweater! I might even have it finished before DH's birthday is over! But I have to finish the neckband and tie in the ends and snip off all the woven in ends yet, and I only have 2 hours and 40 minutes of birthday to go!

    Impressive progress on the sweater, looking forward to seeing piccies!

    You are of course entirely correct about Lake District weather, it is notorious for being damp in general - amazingly nice on Saturday though! You;ll have to come over for another visit and we can go to the Wool Clip!

LOL G'day all! Apparently I can no longer blog more than once a month. Mea slacka, I admit. So what's been happening here? I've done a lot of knitting recently.  Ahem I may have bought a fair whack of yarn too.  So much for not spending money. I've been sick as a dog this week.  Gah.  I haven't been really ill with a virus for years - last time I was this sick was six years ago.  Man that was a fun month, DH having lost his job whilst we were getting new visas in Oz for said job, having to pack up and move everything we wanted to keep from the States, sell off the car, get rid of stuff.... all with me coughing my lungs up.  And the lymph node that came up that I thought was from a chest infection actually being breast cancer...  oh joy oh bliss. I even went to urgent care (the walk in, no appointment needed doc in a box that you see when your GP is booked out) cos I felt so crappy.   He confirmed it was probably viral and threw a heap of meds (not ABs)

Seattle Six

G'day all! 12 is a big number around here, being all to do with Seattle Seahawks and the 12th man - did you know that American football has 11 players active on the ground at any one time and the twelfth man is the spectators watching the game?  I didn't.  I know about the 12th man in cricket but not this thing that has been adopted here regarding what I usually call gridiron. But I don't want to talk about American football and I don't want to talk about 12, I want to talk about six. Yes, we have now been in Seattle for six years (and a number of days). Six years. Where has the time gone? Competition time!

G'day all! Because I am feeling generous at the moment, having given myself a nice dose of mercury (very therapeutic as long as you are Victorian or earlier, doncha know!) and also having developed a grand-niece, I reckon it is time for a competition. What do you need to do? One of two things (or both if you want!). Tell me: about a time you mishandled dangerous chemicals and/or compounds, eg when you played with a mercury switch and blew it up, causing mercury vapour to cover the whole area (including your lungs and skin...) or what I should do to appear more like a great aunt? (Eg how should I dress, what embarrassing habits should I adopt) (Don't say get wrinkly - I am working on that all by myself!
