G'day all! Whoops, how embarrassing!  I thought my Clothworks day was the 29th...  I'm a bit dyslexic about 6s and 9s. OK, now where were we? A couple of months ago, Susie from Clothworks (that link is to their blog, main website here ) popped up on the Seattle Modern Quilt Guild with a Blue and white (and red!) challenge for a new range of fabric, Marsha McCloskey's "Everything Blue."  Clothworks is a fabric company with a variety of lovely collections of fabric. I put my hand up and my little parcel of fat quarters arrived a while later. I thought about what I wanted to make, and eventually decided that I would do one of my fave sorts of blocks - a log cabin, possibly wonky - and a new to me block - flying geese.  Flying geese blocks are very fashionable it seems at the moment and I jumped on the bandwagon. G'day all! I have had a fun week of medical appointments.  I managed to knit quite a bit of sock whilst on the bus going to a different appointment each day - the sock got a foot, a heel and part of the cuff! The sun is racing back down the peninsula. My three year breast cancer checkup came back clear.  This is extra good news as my type of cancer is more likely to come back quickly, within the first three years, as it is particularly fast growing and aggressive. Huge, fancy, modern building where I get my checkups, but that is a rant for another time! The otolaryngologist said he had good news for me.  That good news is that there is no obvious reason for my paralysed vocal cord.  The bad news is that apart from knocking me out and injecting it with collagen (to fatten it up so that it covers more of my trachea), there is little they can do about it.  I learned that I have achieved incompetence, hooray for me!, or at least glottal incompeten...

G'day all! I've been putting off blogging cos I keep hoping I'll have pics of my new knitted FOs to show you all but umm well I don't. A sneak peek of a new top for me. I've been pretty busy recently as my sister, her husband and one of their kids were visiting.  They got a nice place in Capitol Hill, which in extra nice, low traffic times is a bit over 20 minutes away.  I've spent a lot of time shuttling back and forth from there.  It was lovely to see family here and we had my niece here in our place for three extra nights whilst her parents were off doing the Rocky Mountaineer. A touch of family. It's a month since I stacked whilst walking on flat pavement.  I went back to the scene of the crime and honestly, there is one bit where there is a tiny lip on the edge of a concrete block but if it is 5mm highe...

G'day all!  Just a quickie here. I realised I forgot my blogiversary, again!  I forget it every single year. This blog is over nine years old now.  Next year it will hit double digits.  It is already in its tenth year. Some of my readers have been around since the start, or near the start, and I'd like to thank them, even if I'm not sure exactly who you are!  LOL Some readers haven't been around for long, but thanks for popping by anyway!  I'd like to know some of you better - I don't look at my stats enough and if you do leave a comment, the brokenness that is Blogger's commenting system (or the borkedness that is my inability to work out what to do with the commenting system) means I can't reply to people whose emails I don't have via my email (I should load my blog and answer from there - I think I can but I'm not sure). G'day all! Thanks for the concern!  I wish I didn't need it.  I am over being special, though my body isn't yet. I have been trying to find things to do that do not require lots of breathing or talking.  This is harder than you might expect because after a while I want to be energetic and I want to talk to people.  It turns out I am not a hermit after all.  Actually I never thought I was. I have been knitting.  I have almost finished the current cardie - only a few ends to weave in now and the buttons to put on.  I am tempted to wash it before I weave in the rest of the ends - I wove them in as I went but I'm not sure if I've woven them in enough if that makes sense.  Goodness, the buttons were a saga but now I know where to find the second closest Joann's.  I had thought there was a closer one but couldn't find it.  (The closest one is a short walk away but alas the closest one only had three of the buttons I wanted, ...

G'day all! What a fun time I've had recently!  I think I shall just launch into the current excitement.  Be warned, it is long, rambly and whiny.  TL;DR?  I'm whiny and pretty much housebound after weird allergy crap occurred and I can't do much knitting and my voice is shot. My tomatoes!  So proud of them :-) Friday I went to the doctor cos my sinus weirdness has not cleared up after two weeks (flying and many altitude changes may not have helped).  She prescribed antibiotics (ones I've taken before) and a nasal spray. After that, I took the car to the dealer to get a software module upgraded in line with a recall (stability control could fail on full steering wheel lock - not when you want it to go!).  They said it would be ready in about four hours, so I skipped off down the street (not literally).  I walked sedately, watching the pavement because the footpaths and sidewalks in Seattle can leave something to be desired.
