G'day all! We've had a lovely couple of days - yesterday was warm - 27! I nearly fried at lunchtime. It seems like I've already acclimatised to the cooler weather. I picked up some great ornamental pear leaves in the city - be-yoo-ti-ful reds. I'll go get some more tomorrow and maybe get some pics. So it is not beginning to look a lot like Christmas, but certainly like autumn. The Easter Daisies are flowering (I think they are called Michelmas daisies in the northern hemisphere - some sort of aster anyway) and the chrysanthemums are starting to make their presence known in gardens - not flowering, they won't do that until the end of the month and will flower past our Mother's Day on the second Sunday in May - but they are budding up now. G'day all! A while ago, I decided that my life was an empty barren hole if I didn't have some little shrugs and cardies to wear at work. Or maybe I decided that I was tired of getting cold. So I started searching for some nice looking things to knit up and dress up my fairly plain cotton tops with (I am cursed with the inability to wear polyester anywhere near my armpits, even after layering so much deoderant on that you can see the white crytals sticking out of my armpits). In a moment of madness, I decided to make this , the Lucky Clover Lace Wrap from SnB nation. A four ply/fingering weight cardi that effectively has two fronts, and unless you make the 36" size, has sizing issues if I read the knitalong correctly. Well strike me pink, I just so happen to be making the 36" size. Hooray for me and inheriting my mother's B cup. G'day all! Today I have to start with a small whinge about the weather. For the 12 days of the Commonwealth Games, Melbourne's weather was perfect. One morning was a little cloudier and cooler than we wanted but otherwise it was light clouds at most and clear and bright and sunny and warm. In the evenings light jackets were the most you needed. The games ended on the 26th of March. Bingo bango suddenly since then we've struggled to even reach 20 degrees (this is celcius) and most of the time temps have hovered around 15. We've had several strong cool changes. The evenings are cold. The trees are starting to turn (the one good thing about it being colder). Did someone put the weather under a spell for the games and now we have to suffer with weeks of crud weather? It hasn't even rained much despite being pretty grey and gloomy. G'day all! I'm not getting much chance to blog at present - been crook (for some reason I lose interest in blogging when I am crook crook) and now I am flat chat cos I was crook before. I have so many pictures to show you but guess what? I can't! I've got Nathan's cousin's 21st to go to and I will be late, late for a very important date if I don't get a wriggle on now. I won't be eating much there cos it is too difficult to get completely gf food at the place we are going to, a swanky Chinese restaurant called The Dragon Boat. G'day all! Last night I decided to wind my large skein of striping sock yarn into balls. Oh how to keep me occupied for hours! First it is blue: then it is red/pink: and sometimes it is mauve and blue or mauve and pink! And it keeps making pretty colours! Oh what a happy time of drooling. I almost want to run it back through the ball winder again! Dribble. Last night I promised a finished sock. Well I did eventually get there but the sun was just setting, so I had to take pics under the halogen bed light with my foot on a spare pillow. Excuse the hairy leg :-) And here is the other side where my foot doesn't look so mutant. I modified the pattern. I needed a longer toe. I also had 67 stitches (?? how'd I get an odd number?) on the foot. That helped make the swirling different. This sock destroys bamboo needles, btw. There is lots of poking needles in the wrong direction into two stitches. I'll have to carefuly sand down the tips of the needles - just as wel...

G'day all! Thank you for your kind comments about my stash. It might look sorta organised, but trust me, there are about 200 balls of yarn in each box and you only saw the tip of the iceberg if I want yarn out of a box, I have to go rummaging! Woo hoo, stash diving! Gosh I am such a grumpster at present. Lots of things are making me grumpy. Like people on the train who think that since they got on first, they can slouch over as many seats as they like in a peak hour train, or who don't mind using just a little of the next seat across because their boy bits hurt if they put their knees closer than two feet together. And spinning guilds that INSIST on running ALL the spin-ins on weekdays! Hello! Don't they want new and young and WORKING FULL TIME spinners to come along?
