Must link must...

Oooh, forgot to link to my favourite non-knitty blog. Like Star Wars? Read this . The comments crack me up even more than the blog. Plus apparently I am Svedish. I did have a lady making weird noises come running after me in the middle of nowhere once cos I looked like the people from her home in Sweden. Dutch people speak Dutch at me too. Wish I suntanned the way most Swedes seem to. Instead I go a dainty shade of lobster red and then peel and have angry looking skin for a while. Your Inner European is Swedish! Relaxed and peaceful. You like to kick back and enjoy life. Who's Your Inner European? Finally I have been drooling over the KnitPicks yarn. Only they don't deliver to Australia because "They can't get the level of postal service they think their customers deserve." Crikey, people! Just send us the danged yarn! If it takes two weeks to get to us by airmail, we DON'T CARE! We just want the blinking stuff! I think they are simply holding out...

Diddly done

G'day all! Well the funeral was over and done yesterday. Went into work today but came back early (via the spinners' guild for some supplies, wink wink) cos yeah.... The funeral was good. An old family friend did the "ceremony." Actually, he did do some ceremonial stuff - my old man was a Freemason so he had a short (in time) mason's funeral ceremony. I would've been ticked off if Father hadn't got some recognition cos he was a mason for over 50 years and at one stage was on the Grand Lodge of Victoria. He was secretary of the local lodge for long enough (though he couldn't have done it without Mum's support and organisational abilities). When I was a kid I remember many days of mixing Philly with some devilled ham spread and then smearing it on Clix biscuits, or smearing some other mix on or little bits of cheese on bikkies, etc, then arranging the lot onto platters. That was for lodge meetings or even the committee meetings held at Home. ...

May the Fourth Be With You

G'day all! Quiet day today. Another quiet day. Not feeing as lost now, but the funeral is tomorrow. Still feeling totally disgusting in the gut, particularly after my chiro poked me in the liver and told me it is unhappy. It isn't the only part of my GI system that is unhappy! Did a bit of experimental spinning (no pics as the yarn is still drying). Did a bit of knitting - I am now a third of the way up the second sleeve for the jacket and most of the way up the front of the pink top. Hooray! Handwashed a lot of handwashing things. You ain't here for chit chat. You are here for photos. Or maybe you want the chit chat. I can't stop myself anyway. I dyed this up last week. Here are the tops after dyeing: and then before spinning they get all fluffed up. This pic reminded me of those fabric roses, only mine is nicer if messier: I love the fluffing up (drafting) so much - this skanky stuff suddenly becomes all fluffy. It looks like fairy floss (cotton candy for...

Burn baby burn

Hello all! Tasteless title, but the Old Man gets cremated on Thursday and then we were going to have a BBQ but looks like a cool change will hit and it'll be a wash out. I find it amusing that the wake will be a meat fest and was to be a BBQ.... Thank you to everyone who has been so kind over the last couple of days. I much appreciate it. It has left a hollow but really the hollow was there before my father died, it just got more final. I've been here before - mum died 14 years ago after a year long battle with cancer. Anyway, onto more pleasant things. I am bad. Very bad. I bought lots of hand-dyed silk tops to spin into various tops and rovings that I have, and the chocolate brown alpaca I am sometimes spinning up at present. I think I have bought over FIFTY DOLLARS of silk. I am a very very bad girl and should be spanked thoroughly (it might make me happier!). No pics cos the light was atrocious today. I bought some yarn yesterday cos it is bright and cheery and very ...

A spot of bad news

Just a quick note. After a long decline my father (Jack) died this morning. He was 87. It was not unexpected and he has not been at all well this week. I'm currently feeling a bit odd. We'll return to our normal programming soon enough. anon!

Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy

G'day all! TWO posts in ONE day! You so lucky! So we went, we saw, we were amused. If you are a Hitch Hikers fan and cannot deal with the idea of one teensy little iota of the book being changed, don't bother seeing it. If you like the irreverent style of Douglas Adams' books, then go along and watch. Enjoy the show stopper scene "So long and thanks for all the fish." Watch out for the cameos (I am old enough to sorta remember the TV series as well as I remember anything from then) and references to other genre media. It is not faithful to the book but it is in the same sort of style. Somewhat pythonesque really, particularly with the Guide interludes. And ladies (and gents) there is KNITTING in it! Noone knits, but before normality resumes after one of the Heart of Gold's improbability jumps everyone is knitted! LOL! In the credits, all the people involved in creating the knitting are guys, only I was distracted at the time and can't remember the...
G'day all! Here's the bad news: A famine of photos continues. Here's the good news: I have lots of photos to put up once I can download them and GIMP them. Plus I have some thoughts to share with you. I am even getting some knitting done! Today's highlights: a) the Yarnharlot 's bookbookbook is rooolly good. You NEED a copy. NOW!!! Even if you don't knit. Nathan thought it is funny too. He doesn't knit. What better recommendation can I make. Oh, yeah, if you can buy it in your local bookstore. I can't. I live in Australia and if I can be politically incorrect, the booksellers here are totally retarded when it comes to getting in new releases except for Harry Potter. b) I found an M&M or a Smartie piece on my desk this morning. It was in the middle of my pile of colourful pens. That was weird cos I can't eat chocolate and I really really DETEST Smarties and plain M&Ms so even if I could eat chocolate I wouldn't leave littl...
