Alas, no g'days today. A man has died, a man I never knew except from afar.  A man that I admired, who played a character that I adored. Of course I speak of Leonard Nimoy and his most famous character, Spock. I'm old enough to have been around in the early days of Star Trek.  By the time I was in my early teens, I had settled on Spock as my favourite.  He was my first crush (and I was glad to discover I was not the only geeky girl who thought he was the best!).  I spent a year when I was fourteen or fifteen trying to be Spock. Yes I always was a weird one.  And that year was one of discovery of what it is to be human, what it is to feel and to smile and to rejoice in life.  In trying to be an alien, I found me ever more so than I ever had.  It gave me courage to ignore the kids who tried to bully me, the kids who tried to make my life a misery. G'day all! I've been slack and busy at the same time recently.  Sorry for not blogging! Fab sunset from 17 Feb I've also not had lots to say because: a) the most exciting thing that has happened has been my colonoscopy, and b) do you really want to know details of that? Actually, the details aren't that gross.... I need to get some nice pics of the things I've been up to - I only remember to take pics under artificial light and my phone doesn't do so well then. Pretty Seahawks Space Needle I lie when I say only one exciting thing has happened.  Two exciting things have happened: a) my colonoscopy, and b) Spring has come early to Seattle, like 2-3 weeks earlier than normal.  I'm not going to send it back but I'm a bit worried because we are going to get close to freezing at night over the weekend and I've got a lot of plants budding out, if not actually flowering yet.  It's been a warm and sunny winter. G'day all! It's raining.  Surprise!  Welcome to Seattle in winter. Actually, we've had a pretty mild and dry winter, comparatively.  I've been able to go and watch sunset around three or four times a week.  When we moved here three years ago, we had Snowmageddon and then I remember cold front after cold front after cold front blowing through.  It was a bit of a shock after an Australian summer and I didn't really have good wet weather clothing.  And I think I saw about two sunsets in the first month. Sunset with actual sun on the actual horizon! But I learned!  I learned to get insulated raincoats - normal raincoats just are not warm enough.  I learned that microfleece is really warm.  I learned to not use an umbrella and just wear raincoats.  I do have a brolly in the door of the car for those occasions when I get caught out but I tend not to use it much.  My mum would be shocked to see me tromping around in the rain wit...

G'day all! I am so bad!  I didn't do the draw for the contest yesterday!  (I got a little bit busy cos it was a sunny day and I had lots to do outside.) Blue skies after a weekend of unrelenting grey So we had four commenters and with two calendars to give away, the odds are pretty good!  So I put the names into a hat and drew two out, and the winners are: Rachaeldaisy and Pat Hensley! I think I'll have to get back in the habit of posting small amounts often - I keep saving things up and then forgetting all about them!  I'm doing heaps of quilting at the moment, or at least building quilt tops and a bit of knitting, and I'm avoiding the housework... anon!

G'day all! That whizzing sound is time flying right past.  I've not been posting much because I've been busy, oddly enough.  There's also two parts to the time flying by, but more on that later.  A happy, if a bit belated, New Year to you all! Blurry reindeer Christmas was super busy and I didn't have much access to my computer.  We did manage to get everything ready enough for MiL and FiL to have a relatively comfortable room, and we got various things out into the garage like the spare bed stuff and the organ pedals and now the lounge room doesn't look like a storage facility, yay! Sweet tree I picked up a Christmas tree on Christmas Eve, about an hour and a half before Lowes shut.  I tried to go to the local nursery first but they shut 10, no  five  minutes before I got there.  Lowes gave me the tree for free - a nice little fir nearly six feet tall if you included the bare nubbly branch at the top, cleaned it up, loaded it and...

G'day all! Long time no blog.  And I am soooo happy that we are nearly at solstice because the gloom is starting to get to me.  Sunset at 4:18pm is much much too early.  And the sun only rises at around 7:45am if it can be bothered.  Some days we don't actually see any sun at all - it just stays grey and dim all day long, like living in twilight. It's been truly flat chat around here.  Late November I was making a quilt to enter into a quilt show - didn't get in but mine joins the other 75% of rejected quilts.  I'd show you pics of it but I don't have good ones of the back yet. Ah heck, lets show you some pics of parts of the front.  I don't have good shots of the back - every time it is clear and sunny here at the moment, I'm busy doing things other than taking pics of quilts!  But I do have to hurry up and get shots because I'm donating it before Christmas, which leaves me very little time indeed!
