Mental note to self #umpteen

For me, raw beetroot is a strong purgative. Yikes! I've had very small amounts of raw beetroot before and thought it was rather nice. So I made a nice raw beetroot and carrot salad as part of tea. It was very enjoyable. Two hours later, well the troubles started! The most interesting side effect was how wobbly my legs went. That is an issue in itself as one has to move relatively quickly when "the moment" comes along. It is now 1:30am and I'm hoping I can go to bed soon. Am very tired, rather dehydrated but cannot do more than sip water. PS. If anyone knows where I put any of our battery chargers, please let me know. We used to have three, I got rid of one cos the batteries didn't seem to charge well in it, and I've seen both of the other two in the last 10 days but can't find them at all now.... The phone takes adequate pics but the camera does much better as one might expect from a one trick pony.

Comeuppance

Image
G'day all! Over the last few days, I've been busy. Busy and slack. I've had five meals out (or takeaway). Tonight I've had my comeuppance. Actually I am still having it. I hope that the apparently endless stream will end and I'll be able to go to bed. I am so tired I'm likely to fall asleep on the bog.... It is a pity it doesn't have a proper door yet, though I am glad I put the curtain back up! We have a door for it now but it has to be installed. So in more pleasant matters, a while ago I finished these socks. They are in the Ewe Give Me the Knits sock yarn that I bought at Bendi. I like them. They are squooshy and soft and lurid. As usual I couldn't make a pair. I haven't worn them yet because the weather hasn't been that cold. I've worn some of my lightweight handknitted socks but it is coming into the season for light cotton socks or no socks at all. Hooray! (Much as I love knitting and wearing my woolly socks, I am a spring...

A draining experience

G'day all! Well what a fun week it has been! I experienced the Australian emergency health system. More on that later. Nathan has a full time job offer - it was part time but something changed in the funding (I think someone left). One of our chooks flew over the fence and we haven't seen her for a day and nor have the neighbours. She is probably fox food now. We are sorta peeved but well given that their ex-owner highly disapproves of wing-clipping yet still gave us a chook that can fly about 5 metres high and well we are not sure how far but more than 15m in the air (ie an aerial acrobat in the chicken world)... We probably should've just clipped all their wings. We've run out of bandwidth on our cable plan so I've got no new photos to share - we are throttled to dial up speeds. So more on our health care system. As I whinged in my last post, chemo and/or the anti-nausea drugs can cause the other C, the one whose name is whispered about in jokes about prunes. ...

The house of moan

G'day all! Oh gosh, the fun, it just is not ending here. I caved. I have sulfa drugs (old antibiotic) to take. My ear is so swollen that it has put my jaw joint out of whack. Not being able to eat without some rather large degree of pain and *still* not be able to chew was the final straw. Apart from the pain so bad I just sat and snivelled for most of last night cos I couldn't take enough Tylenol to make the head-beating-against-wall pain go away - I finally fell asleep around 7am. Don't worry, I didn't keep poor Nathan up or anything - I made a nest of my chair and its ottoman. Quite comfortable, as far as these things can go... Cross your fingers for me, eh? I might choke on the tablets if nothing else - they are big mongrels! One thing good about being at the dr's from 3:15 until after 6pm is I got about half the foot done on the second of my merino tencel socks. I'd show a pic but it currently looks like the other sock, only it's missing most of...

Still sick and whining

G'day all! Here's some pretties to look at before the moaning and whining begins.... I am getting very over this cold (I just wish I would get over it!). It has settled in my ears. I feel like my head is full of wool. (If only - then I'd spin it!) Basically I am half-deaf. I feel like I am stuck in my own head - all those little sounds you take for granted like the tacker of the keyboard, someone's footsteps outside, heck I'd be glad to hear anything other than my own heartbeat and the whinings of my own ears....and the little man who is tapping the plate in my right ear? Please stop! My sinuses are unhappy but I have managed to get them clear on occasion. Most people take nose breathing to be normal, I see it as a triumph! I have a cough too but it is just a reaction to general irritation. Every time I take a Tylenol to help with the face/ear pain, it drops my temperature and I end up soaked in sweat. If I had changed the sheets every time that happene...

Miseriguts

Not much g'day today! Ergle. I have a gut bug. Lots of not much eating (worse, not much drinking) and lots of feeling rather ill. So much to show you too but no energy for show and tell, let alone wrangling the new computer into letting me look at the pics (easy to fix if you have the right password and some energy) or for that matter taking pics of the recent spinning and dyeing and fleece. I really want some nice bland juice - some apple juice would do but I don't have any juice at all cos I was going to go shopping today. Shopping involves getting on the bike and riding only a mile (with the bike trailer on the back) but that is about a mile further than I feel capable of going currently! Plus DH appears to be in a meeting it seems so I can't contact him and wail for juice and maybe some soyghurt. This too shall pass, but I wish it would be a whole lot less unpleasant about it. Hopefully next time I shall have lots for show and tell, rather than a pathetic whine! an...
