Christmas Presents, catchup

Image
G'day all! I said I'd show off the pretties I got for Christmas, didn't I? I'm still enjoying Christmas, even though it is over a week later. I'd show you the amazing things DH bought me but umm see the space above? That is what he bought me. Why change the habit of a lifetime? I got a rose from one sister and a houseplant from my brother. We seem to have a bug about plants. My SiL rolled her eyes as three out of four siblings got together and started talking gardening, particularly growing our own food. She grew up on a farm and had to do it for real. Dreamcatcher sent me a heap of yarn and a lovely little address book (which I promptly did not include in the pics). The address book has botanical prints throughout and is very pretty :-) In that lot is some bamboo/merino sock yarn , "some" white merino laceweight , some lovely mauve/blue laceweight from the Yarn Yard, and two different lots of Regia sock yarn, one of which I've just started kn...

G'day all! I've been in a flurry of finishing again. Socks were knitted for DH. They are done and dusted and given to him for Valentine's Day. Do not ask what I was given - DH does not have a romantic bone, ahem, in his body. Instead he said he felt unwell. I had asked that I not have to cook, so what happened? * Made myself pancakes for breakfast * Cooked risotto for lunch, and * Cooked lamb stew for dinner! Can I just say I did an excellent job too! Alas, the kitchen is still feral cos Nathan has the job of emptying the dishwasher, which he tends to forget to do. If the dishwasher is full of clean dishes then I can't stick the dirty ones in and things snowball. I could put the dishes away but I hurt my right shoulder and anything at or above shoulder height = hurties and wobbliness, and guess what height the crockery lives at and in which corner of the kitchen? So Valentine's Day was a write-off. Not unusual. Just as well that I have friends like the love...

Me so lucky!

G'day all! Mesa got a parcel! Mmmm, Posh Yarn (Emily), a wrap for the evenings here (I'm told the sea breeze will work all summer and I am really hoping it does, otherwise it will be unbearably warm), a pretty candle and some stitch holders! (Maybe now I'll stop using my Denise set as stitch holders?). From the lovely Dreamcatcher . Gosh it is good to have friends :-) I just wish we had more moulah so I could send more parcels. But that is up to me at this stage - gotta find a job! I am also looking at selling stuff on Etsy or on my old yarn site, which hasn't been updated for a year now - I still have pics of yarn and fibre I dyed before I left Oz to put up but considering I split the boxes of yarn and tops between my friends, I can't find out who has what cos they don't know either.... I also got some fleece a couple of days ago - must download pics, assuming I haven't lost the camera cable again. I rode to a mall yesterday and discovered that a shoe...

Even More Birthday Stuff

G'day all! I thought I should abuse your eyeballs with some birthday presents. Presents-wot-I-didn't-organise-myself. Surprise presents! The lovely mrspao sent me some goodies all the way from England: yummy choc-rice things and some Hipknits sock yarn in a colourway that is very me. Nathan says "too pale" but those pale colours look good on me. And my blogless friends M and M in Oz got a bunch o' people to contribute to rectifying a Great Problem - can you tell what it is from this pic? Oh and it was not just one block of chocolate - the big pic shows that I have a 14 week supply! However, under stress it will probably last about 10 weeks. My *Very favourite* chocolate cos I have never poisoned myself with it, though with that many blocks I probably could if I tried to eat it all at once 8-) Lovely prezzies! I really appreciate the thought you guys put into the things you sent me :-) Now for a pic taken last night at a friend's house. He has two lovel...

Random musings

G'day all! Why is it that when I am out driving, if there is ONE derro on the road, they will be in front of me? (I should not say derro - it means a homeless person who enjoys a bit more plonk than they should. Yes they drink to self-medicate. Yes it is very sad. Yes I have occasionally given them money - heck, if booze is all they have, they may as well enjoy it.) Why do I seem to attract the people who have to slow to a crawl at every street corner to see if this is where they should turn, or the person who thinks that if wiping off five (kmh) means the road will be safer, wiping off 20 will be even safer? Or the person who thinks that since I drive a small car, I am slow? I realised the other day that I drive like my mother. I learned a lot from my mum's driving. Like always try to be polite. You can't always be polite but don't do that lovely thing of sitting at the right hand turn arrow (US equivalent - left hand turn) until it turns yellow and *then* take...
