Autumn already?

G'day all! I am such a naughty blogger - I've got buckets to talk about and then I just don't. And then of course I forget it all when I sit down at the computer to talk about it! Summer has been busy.  And it was hot all through June and July, and then calmed down a bit during August mostly because it started getting smoky and smoke stops a fair whack of solar radiation getting through. Saying goodbye to the long days of summer And now it is flipping cold.  A week ago it was 27 C, today it was 15 C with a biting northerly wind!  I had to put a fleece jacket on and even wore one of my handknitted hats out this evening.  Oh the indignity of being plunged into Fall. Stormy weather And we didn't get any of the rain that other places did this week - we did get rain last weekend but missed out on all the rain this week.  However, missing out did mean that we got some sunny breaks. So I've been madly quilting.  I got me a new machine, a st...

Here and there

G'day all! Still all over the shop here at our new Modest Manor.  I've been playing way too much 2048 in its various guises (doge2048 crashes my video card badly - the monitor says it is getting no input!).  The problem with playing games like that is I get to mull over things.  And at the moment I don't like what I'm mulling over. Many years ago, more years than I care to think about, I did something that was quite quite bad to someone who deserved so much better treatment.  I was young and foolish, and I hurt someone deeply. An image of beauty to offset the nasty. Did you know I'm a cheater? Yep, I cheated on my first boyfriend.  I learned the error of my ways, and what I did still haunts me to this day.  It was wrong on so many levels.  I had reasons, I had excuses but I did the wrong thing.  It has informed me for oh so many years, trying to be careful not to make that same mistake again. You can see the phone's imperfect stit...

A lottle of very little

G'day all! I am still knitting - see? New socks for me! These are my new socks.  I wish I could find the label of them - I bought them from a vendor at Knit Fit (my local knitting conference!!!  Like four small blocks from me or a bit over 5 minutes!) in November.  I call them Antidote because they are a nice bright pick me up for dull days.  Hooray - found the label - dyed by Deidra MacKimmie, Spinner's Candy, "Sour Skittles Splash." See, there are two! They are quite nice and thick and squishy and I like them quite a lot. I'm knitting a smoke ring with some lovely lovely MadTosh merino. This smoke ring is quite quick to knit up - ok, I've been knitting it on and off over over a week now and I've only done 1.5 repeats (more than what the pic shows) but it is my knitting whilst thinking piece by the computer. Plus I have another sock on the go - I got a whole lot of it knitted in the TWO HOUR LONG queue to get into Comicon on Friday....

Time flies like a banana

Image
G'day all! Actually fruit flies like a banana but you get the gist. I would love to tell you about all the exciting things I've done recently but umm they are so boring that I can't remember them. Quiet is good but meh, I need a little jazzing up.  The weather has been dull again these last couple of days.  It hasn't rained, it has just been grey.  I am not good with grey.  I haven't been anywhere in particular (apart from knit night), I haven't seen anyone (apart from knit night and dinner out last night with various of Nathan's workmates, two of whom are friends before they were workmates, and one girlfriend whom I totally confused, with the help of Q). I have managed to get a bit of crafting done.  I've had a quilt that I thought I might get done before Christmas (hahahahaha!).  It's now Feb and I've finally cleared it off the decks.  It needs its beauty shots done, along with two other little quilts but until the weather cooperates I ...
