G'day all! I am having A Week. My internet is very slow. My chat session keeps dying = very hard to talk to DH online. DH is busy and not very contactable. Uploading photos takes a number of tries. I am very surprised that I can blog at all. Helmet (the car) decided the old battery was not good enough any longer and killed it Wednesday. Getting that fixed just ate all my budget for the month. Nathan doesn't answer his phone very often. Things are not very organised. I am doing 10 minutes of tidying/cleaning per room per day. I am in a house full of crap (ok, there is some really nice stuff too IMO). The garden needs a lot of work. The house needs a lot of work. There's no plaster on the walls or ceiling in the laundry. Before the walls can be plastered, we need to get a plumber in to plumb the new toilet in its new location. Then we can remove the old toilet. Then we can put new windows in. But before we put new windows in, we need to get the new windows. Nathan ...

OMG I forgot!

G'day all! Thus begins my 732nd day of captivity in the USA. Yes, that is right. Two years and a day ago, we landed in LAX and flew across to Denver to be driven up to Fort Collins. Yesterday was the 2nd anniversary of moving to the US. Yesterday. Ooops! I meant to do a big post but ahem, well I forgot! So, how has it been living in the US? Well, we've learned a lot about how different places do things differently. I think we've become more resolutely Australian. We are still learning cultural stuff. I think we can say we've got a network of friends, even a couple that we can rely on! We've been amazed at how such a rich country can't keeps its roads mended (we've driven on some totally shocking roads - interstate highways no less! - and know why Americans have to buy new cars regularly - the old ones get shaken to bits). We've been amazed at the sheer quantity of resources here, how blessed America is with natural resources, and how (quite frankl...

panicking

G'day all! We are still in a panic here. We have no information about anything. In response to possible impending poverty, I am going to list some stuff on my yarnivorous pages over the next week, see if I can raise a bit of cash that way. Stuff is still for sale there! There will be more, probably including fleece that I have bought (can't sell stuff I've been given, that is rude!). I am processing a shetland fleece I bought at Taos at this instant. It is soaking in a hot shampooey wash. Then I can flick it out. By the time I am done it and two other fleeces should be fine to send to Australia or anywhere else that has very strict quarantine laws. I figure that it is not illegal for me to sell stuff I've bought - it isn't work if I sell my own possessions! There'll be all sorts of stuff, including yarn that I've reclaimed from sweaters and overdyed. I will return with pics of our travels - they will be on the Colorado Dreaming blog - and pics of wh...

Antsy, me?

G'day all! Patiently awaiting your invite? (to Ravelry?) Found you! * You signed up on June 12, 2007 * You are #8553 on the list. * 2602 people are ahead of you in line. * 9337 people are behind you in line. * 32% of the list has been invited so far Want to know where you are in the Ravelry queue ? (Thanks to Donna for the heads up!) Not that I am very fussed at present - I am so busy I can't keep up! Here's some recent finds. Three jumpers from an op shop, two are wool blends with silk, angora, all sorts of stuff and one is cashmere! Fine fine pinky cashmere. They are destined to become yarn before I knit them up into something else. I've already shredded the jumper on the left - the sorta apricotty one. I figure I can dye it a different colour (plum I reckon should go nicely over the current colour). I also joined Mystery Stole 3, along with half the knitting blogsphere. I only got my yarn on Friday night, so I'm a bit behind. I'm no...

Offline for a bit

G'day all! Today we move into our new rental place. It will be good! But the only internet I'll have until we get organised will be the library. I may be able to blog from there but no photos! And I won't have a phone (either a handset or a line) so I won't be able to organise the internet either. Bwahahahahahaha! Nathan is going to have to do this! So much to talk about, so little time. I'll probably end up setting up some posts this week so when we are back online, you'll be up to date with the gazillions of washcloths, face washers and handtowels I am knitting (we don't have peaches n creme back home or even its rip-off peaches and cream... yes I know it is pathetic. I don't even have mason-dixon knitting!), the New Bikes, the New Bike Trailer and all the other things that are happening, like me joining the mystery stole along 3 without any yarn to knit it with (lots of spinning happening too - need at least 800m of lace weight), our new place, ...
