G'day all! Every day I am getting a bit better. Hooray! Today I went for a walk to the post box and back and didn't really need to sit down afterwards. OK, it is only a 600m or so walk but yay me! Now if only I didn't have leaky lulu dripping from my armpit, things would be grand. LOL I just have to wait a couple of days. Whilst I was in hospital, I knitted a sock. I started it the day before I went in - I thought I might be a bit loopy and starting would not be a good idea. Well I did manage to knit some sock after my surgery, like at 1am the next morning when my vertical and horizontal hold started working again (I have no idea what they had given me but every time I opened my eyes, the whole world flicked upwards and/or sideways. Not fun!). I finished the sock, even wove the ends in, before my sister appeared to pick me up. Would you believe that this yarn made this sock? G'day all! It's my birthday. I was supposed to be back in the States, collecting my birthday presents to myself there. But it has been a very exciting day. Nathan's workmate has moved to a different area with a different boss. Nathan's boss boss has cancelled Nathan's project. The visas we are on are dependent on the specific job Nathan has been doing, not a job in a different area (eg if he moves to 3D graphics, he needs a new visa or to have the visa altered cos the old visa is for document layout and says he is a world expert in that area, which he is). We are supposed to be applying for the new visas for the old, cancelled, project on Friday. So it is very exciting and interesting indeed. It indicates our return to Oz might be a lot earlier than we anticipated. I am starting to plan taking back an almost empty suitcase cos I have plenty of clothes/wool/etc there and I may as well stuff the suitcase full to bring it home. It was Melbourne Cup Day here too ...

G'day all! The days are just flying by at the moment. I have more things to do than you could poke sticks at, even if you had a very large number of sticks! I just sat a library page exam. A library page shelves books at the library. Not the world's most high-falutin' job but I've always loved books, love hanging around in libraries and being paid to do what I do quite often (which is put books in the correct order rather than the way they are on the shelf) would be great! Anyway, I show up with a couple of moments to spare (got a phone call at a *very* bad time!) and show my id and hand over my application. There were over FORTY people applying for TWO positions. Two positions of between 8 and 20 hours per week in four hour shifts, positions paying $11.04 an hour. There were school kids, business men and women (well dressed, shiny shoes, sleek hair), accountants (I reckon the guy opposite me was an accountant - note that I put them in a different basket!), house wi...

G'day all! We are running around like headless chooks (chickens) here. Nathan is flying out tomorrow to his in-person interview with the Big G. Here's us, trying to reduce our use of the car, and G wants to fly Nathan half way around the globe to have one day in the G-plex. sigh. Anyway, I am going to go for a drive unless Cheshire's abscesses (yep, plural, on a cat who is not allowed out at night and can only be fighting her unsister...) get pus-ier. Most are looking better after lots of wiping with salty wet tissues and opening up. Annoying animal. I *need* this drive (although I am trying to cut down on use of the car) - the stress of all this job stuff means I have to run away a bit. But if I have to take the cat to the vet, not happy Jan!
