Yarnivorous

G'day all! Well what a productive day I had! In more ways then one after a run-in (more like run-out) with some yummy but treacherous sausages. I dyed up some yarn in blck and violet - have to re-do it cos the violet didn't get all the bits it should've but it is getting there. I dyed up 200g of merino tops in rainbow colours (my favourites). I spun 50g of merino in 5ply/sportweight and plied it up with a little silk and forgot to take a pic of it, but I have to do another 50g so I'll get pics of that. I signed up with paypal's merchant stuff so that I can use it for my yarn website - I figure that if anyone overseas wants to buy my yarn, having to send me a cheque in Aussie dollars would be a pain in the butt, but paying pretty much instantly by paypal would be much more convenient. OK, so I get slugged 6% of the purchase price but oh well, it just gets factored into the cost, doesn't it? There is other big knitty news too, but I am sitting on that for the...

G'day all! Today I feel lucky to be alive and with all my bits attached. Here's why. (No it is not because I was on the Air France airbus that crashlanded in Toronto either.) This morning as I drove to work I had something rather unusual happen to me. I had just given way to a white mercedes delivery van - he was turning right and I left onto the same road. So I drive behind him on the two lane road. He starts slowing down and pulling to the left (the kerb), so I assume that he is going to stop or pull into one of the many industrial buildings along that bit of road. Fair call? He isn't indicating, btw, but that is not unusual in my experience of delivery van drivers. So I indicate and move to pull around him - there are no cars in the other lane. I'm not much more than two car lengths off him and halfway into the other lane. Then the delivery van driver chucks a U-TURN RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! No indicator, no warning, nothing. He didn't check his wing mirr...

G'day all! The days are getting noticeably longer now, well at least while the weather is fine. Sunset is now around 5:30 and sunrise around 7:30. That's pulled back more than half an hour. Spring will be here soon! Plus it was 18 degrees today. That is warm for a winter's day and beats a lot of English summer days! (but not this year!). The snowdrops have been flowering for a couple of weeks, some of my jonquils have already come and gone, and on Saturday I noticed the first cherry-plums in full bloom plus some magnolias. Mmmmm, it smells sorta sour and hot, umm what could it be... This is where the steam is coming from, curling up slowly and delicately - a new crockpot! Top(s) soup! Mmm-mmm, my favourite! Have to say I like this crockpot dyeing bizzo! The tops are drying by the heater as we speak. There will be more, MORE I say! Another joyous blissful week of work awaits me. I'll have to get some more training set up - it is nearly August and I have a lot to do by September. Joyous bliss. Ba humbug. G'day all! Just been at a 155th birthday party, which then turned into a 210th birthday party. How could that be? Real quick one tonight cos I am a bit tired after a very long day. Had to take the other car across to be checked out by my BiL's mechanic (whom I don't like), wandered around a shopping centre for two hours waiting for the car to be ready, then helped nathan prep the floorboard edging for sanding (ie I pulled out lots of nails from the carpet tacking edge stuff), plied 120g of stuff, spun another 80g, plied up some thick and thin pink stuff with lurex thread, rubbed tung oil into the floorboards.... G'day all! I trawled off to the craft and quilt fair today on my lovely day off. I was feeling pretty crufty cos my gut was carrying on like a pork chop. Stupid thing. But with a bit of fluid replacement we were go go GO! Now if you want woolly stuff, this is not the fair to go to. But I did get to meet LisaG and Claire from Xotik Yarns , had a good chat with Lisa about selling stuff. I admit that I still bought stuff. I forgot to take pictures of it this afternoon - like DUH! How many of you want to see the undyed laceweight, like real laceweight, 100% wool? 100g for $20. Or the undyed laceweight (slightly heavier though) kid mohair? About $25 for 100g. Or the undyed mulberry silk, fingering weight stuff? About $30 for 99g. I thought you wouldn't want to see it until it is dyed.
