G'day all! The weekend is upon me. Hooray! It is a long weekend for most of Australia, except WA cos they are different.... We get to celebrate Queen's Birthday, except the old girl was born on 21 April if memory serves me correctly. I guess we get ANZAC Day on the 25th of April so we don't want to crowd the calendar too much. I am so glad I don't have to go back to work tomorrow. My head is literally whirling from running so much training and doing so much walking between the two sites (my normal workplace and the one nearly 5 blocks away). The last session I had a bloke in there who could not believe that anyone could have any difficulties with the stuff the training session was about. He was very insistent that it all happened this way, but that is not what others in other sessions told me.... It has left me so tired that I just then couldn't find the a key on the keyboard. Egads! G'day all! There is absolutely no knitting content in this post at all, unless you count this mention of the sassy stripe sock.... so if knitting is what you crave, I fear you must look elsewhere! Just for something different, I decided to blog you my trip into work yesterday. Here we are, in the car, driving at 50kmh up the road towards the freeway: You can see that sunrise is on the agenda. It is about 7:30am. This was a freaky cloud so I took a picture of it. Excuse the rather stumpy digitus impudicus. Here we are at the station (no pics of the short trip along the freeway cos it would've just been of the back end of a burgundy truck). Note that the sun has risen as I await the 7:49 train to the city: My train arriveth. This is an older (say 3 years old) train that has been refurbished from the old Comeng trains. G'day all! I promised more pics of my consumer rampage on Sunday. Not many more to go though cos I got bored with taking one by one photos and did a couple of piles of tops. I was going to post them last night but Real Life (tm) got in the way and we went and did the grocery shopping for the first time in two weeks instead. I have to say that I feel a lot more secure about our toilet paper situation now. I nearly didn't though cos they didn't have any recycled toot roll on the shelves cos it was on special. However with Nathan being so tall, when I spied two last six packs on the very top of the stock shelves, he was able to snaffle us one. Thinking of six packs, here's a great Homer Simpson line: "Everyone's got six packs except for me. I got a keg!" So here are the last little bits I bought on Sunday: Yep, that is 8 X 100g (or more) balls of merino tops. In yankee terms, that is about 32 oz of prime merino. Make it an even 2lb. G'day all! Well what a great morning out I had at the handknitter's fibre fest. Oh boy did I bust my budget! Guess who will be on $50 a week for the next yonk? This should act as added impetus to getting my spinning up on line to sell.... I have started weighing and measuring length and checking wraps per inch for the stuff I have. So, what did I get? My Lorna's Laces sock yarn in Daffodil (the colour separation was not as good as I expected): And the lovely Lion and Lamb in Sherbert for my Clap-to be: Plus the prettiest ball of Trekking sock yarn I e'er did see: (Those colours are so very good on me - it is suckful being a pale blond cos moody colours make me look rather wan) All these came from Lisa . G'day all! Well certainly not Christmas around here. Lovely day today, though high cloud rolled in and spoiled the sunshine. Thank you all for your opinions about the appropriateness of saying thanks. I appreciate the different thoughts you have. I am going to go with something Sharon suggested. The person is most likely clueless. That does seem rather possible. LOL. On the way home last night I dropped off my scarves for the Melbourne Scarf Festival . I nearly forgot to do it too! I was in such a hurry to get out of the door at work - I just could not stand being there for another minute! I raced out the door and realised that I had a bag of scarves in my hot little fist. After a mad dash to the post office for a pre-paid envelope (in case some/all don't sell), we were set! Lookie what K gave me! Hand-dyed sock yarn! Isn't it pretty. It's in my favourite colour too - ALL of them! LOL BTW, for some reason any pics I uploaded earlier than this week are not loading.
